Default Nice to be here.

First I would like to say it is a joy to be here. The friendly atmosphere is a blessing. I hope you all don't mind a question I have tonight. I am currently studying the book of John 19:31 ¶ The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was a high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. I know Deut. 21:22,23 says 22 ¶ And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree: 23 his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. So my question is this: Do we know if the two theives crucified with our Lord and Saviour were Jews as well? And if not, why were the Jews concerned if gentiles remained hung on the sabbath? I hope this question makes sense. I think it must have some importance for John to include it. Then again, one of the theives repented and asked Jesus to remember Him when He came to His kingdom.( Lk.23:42) Was this another veiled truth that Jesus revealed, that Gentiles were to be in the household of the God of Isreal? Thanks again.
