Misremembered Bible Quotes: The Lion and the Lamb

We all know that the phrase “God helps those who help themselves” is not in the Bible. It’s one of those false proverbs that people who don’t read the Bible think comes from the Bible. But how many phrases do you think you know of the Bible are actually nothing more than phrases spoken by men? Here’s an example, one that I am often asked about in fact:

“The lion and the lamb shall lie down together.”

The convenient alliteration “lion and lamb” is easy to remember. But it is not out of the Bible, at least not as a direct quote. The phrase goes back at most a few centuries and appears in sermons and commentaries, but never as a direct Bible quote. But because of the picture it paints, and the alliteration of the spoken words said, it took hold and many people assume that is a direct Bible quote. So when they read the actual verse, they can be caught off-guard:

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

A lion and a lamb do also appear in one verse in Isaiah 65:25, but again, the Bible paints the picture of a wolf and a lamb together:

Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

The force of memory is so strong that many people have emailed me when reading these verses assuming that something happened to their Bibles because it doesn’t match up with what they have heard preached. “The lion and the lamb shall lie together” is an allusion to verses in Isaiah that appeared in sermons and commentaries, but eventually became remembered as Bible quotes. Here is an example. In a few minutes of research this is the oldest quotation of this phrase I found in the commentaries I have easy access to (there may be others that are older, but this one is certainly the oldest well read use):

And peace there shall be no end; this respects both the increase and perpetuity of the peace of Christ’s kingdom. The peace of believers, under the Gospel dispensation, is greater than that of the saints under the legal dispensation, whose sacrifices could not remove a consciousness of sin and its guilt; and who, through various laws threatening with death, were all their lifetime subject to bondage; but great is the peace of New Testament saints, through the blood, righteousness, and sacrifice of Christ, and which may be increased more and more; and in the latter day there will be more peace among themselves; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, nor Judah vex Ephraim; the sticks of Joseph and Judah shall be one nor will there ever be any more discord between Jew and Gentile, the lion and the lamb shall lie down together; there will be no more war among the nations, after the battle of Armageddon; and no more persecution, after the slaughter of the witnesses; and this abundance of peace, spiritual and temporal, will be as long as the moon endures, Ps 72:7 and all this will issue in eternal peace in the world to come:…” -John Gill, comments on Isaiah 9:7, 18th century.

Carefully notice that Dr. Gill includes the phrase but does not offer attribution to the Bible for it. Thus we see Gill’s allusion (not quotation) worked its way into collective memory through other speakers and teachers who used the same (non-Bible) phrase.

  1. These are things I deal with ALOT with people.things people have heard and been told and come to be accepted as truth when they aren’t in the Bible .i think my favorite is GOD put more on you than you can bear.it comes from 1 Corinthians 10 verse 13 but is very wrong.GOD dosent put anything on us HE makes a way of escape for us. It’s so easy for traditions to become accepted as part of GODS word if we don’t study for ourself

    1. It’s called “The Mandela Effect”. Look it up. The verse used to say “..the lion and the lamb..” This article was created by a deceiver. Time to open your eyes, so-called Christians. He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear. YouTube: The Mandela Effect

      1. What is your EVIDENCE that it “used to say” lion and lamb? You call me a deceiver when you are planting the seeds of doubt, saying “yea hath God said.” GE 3:1.

        1. It was the Lion and lamb!! It was a lion David killed it was the Lion that took his sheep. The almighty is the Lion of Judah just as aslan in the the Chronicle s of Narnia portrayed him the lamb is Christ the last sacrifice, the blood of the lamb. When the angel killed the first born in Egypt it was the lambs blood they covered the door with so that the angel would pass over them. It was lion’s were in the den to kill gods profit yet did not harm him and it was the Lion that laid down with the sheep as it was in genesis before sin and being cast out of eden. My Mother was a Quaker Methodist paster, my Grandfater was a dutch Christian reformed pastor, my step mother was a Methodist paster I have read multiple different versions of the Bible. I read and studied revelations around 20 plus times. A wolf hides in sheep’s clothing but never does Christ lay down with the devil. Only the Lion the creator Abba .

          1. Another comment making the assertion that every printed Bible available in the entire world has somehow changed on this verse, without a single shred of evidence. I also have a hard time when someone touts their Bible acumen while referring to the the book of “revelations.” If you don’t know the name of the last book of the Bible, how are we to trust your judgment on on verse from the Old Testament over the evidence of all of the printed Bibles in the world?

          2. Micah, You say you studied Revelations over 20 times? That is a lot of studying yet you make one of the most common mistakes calling the book Revelations. I question how familiar you are with Revelation if you can’t get the name of the book correct. There is no book in the Bible called Revelations, it is called Revelation. Also, the verse referencing the wolf lying down with the lamb is from Isaiah 11 vs 6 not Revelation.

          3. You have fallen into your own trap there – you said “Revelations” If you look now into your bible you will see the book is called REVELATION (no S.) When I first read the bible it was called RevelationS – how do you account for that alteration?

        2. Isaiah 11:6
Then the Lion shall lay down with the Lamb and the bear shall eat grass like the ox, and the child shall play on the hole of the asp and nothing shall hurt nor destroy in all My Holy Mountain.

Where did the verse come from that many remember. The wolf is Lucifer. Now hes lying down woth the lamb which is us. The devil is trying to deceive us guys

        1. And to all commenting here…this is why you must hide the Word of God in your heart. I, too, remember lion, but it doesn’t matter. What does matter are the requirements to spend eternity with Jesus. We must be born again of the water and of the Spirit. The Holy Ghost will guide us until that day. God is true to His Word and if we have studied His Word, He will bring it back to our remembrance, what is necessary for us to live by. Everything else does not matter. God bless you all.

          1. ‘Wolf and lamb’ or ‘lion and lamb’ Why are you all arguing is not the meaning the same. Enemies will and can become friends and live in harmony. ” A child will lead them” Christ.

        2. I agree too. It was always the lion and lamb. Started reading the bible at age 5, read it often. Cover to cover. Things your heart and Spirit confirm stay with you. Christ came as a Lamb, and comes back as a Lion. Furocious for those that have mocked and destroyed. He is the Lamb when HE first came, and also the Lion of Judah . The Lion and Lamb will be reconciled once it is finished..Wolf and Lamb never. Christ was no wolf, a Lamb HE was and Lion if Judah, but no wolf. Too many have read and know this by heart, not from hearsay, but by reading the scriptures their whole life. And the Spirit does intercede for ALL the abominations and changes to the Holy Bible that have occured over the many years. Some who changed it thinking that us humans are to feeble and dumb to know whay “Thy” means or other words changed, deleted, completely making bare so many thing the Bible once had within it Thus why God commanded to NOT add to or take away from HIS scriptures and words ..And that is precisely what has taken place with all new versions if the Bible. There are too many new versions to count. The Bible has always been mystical with precious truths that darkness hated and set forth to change it …yes the mandella effect is teal .Them thinking to change time, dimensions and events through CERN and other ways..thise that remember this scripture, remember it since childhood through endless reading and studies. When it went missing, we noticed. Studies mind you not from listening to a Pastor ot Bishop etc, but studies heart to heart directly with God through their own eyes.

          1. Science fiction and fantasy is not evidence. You feel like it should have said “lion and lamb” and that is enough for you. But it is not evidence. All you have is quack junk science fiction.

          2. I agree with you. This is another satanic trick to try to turn people from God’s word.to try to make the people. to get people believe that God’s word has mistakes. But as for me, when I’m reading/studying the Word I pray for God to give me the understanding of His Worn. Satan has alwys tried to mess up God’s Word.

        3. I have never read verse 6 to say the Lion and lamb (and I’ve been reading the Bible since I was 16 and am now 52), but with the mental image of all the animals at peace in vss 6-8 it’s easy to just mash it up to read lion and lamb. Coupled with the imagery of Jesus being called the Lamb of God and the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, it’s easy to assume vs 6 read lion and lamb. There is also the month of March ‘proverb’ in like a lion out like a lamb that just makes those 2 animals seem to go together.

        4. What? Just open up your KJV and read it..says the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb…this is all about God sending our Messiah, Jesus and in the future there will be no more bloodshed..animals will no longer attack each other and we as ell will have peace through Jesus.

      2. I cannot believe people actually fall for this mandella nonsense. This mandella garbage is nothing more than a demonic psyop on peoples minds to deceive.

      3. I don’t know what the Mandela Effect” is but the verse reads ‘the wolf and the lamb. Unless someone snuck into my house and changed a very old bible I have, then the verse reads the wolf and the lamb.

        1. You don’t understand the Mandella Effect. The Mendella Effect claims that through quantum effects, time is altered, which alters our perception of time. However, memory is so strong, that it is not always altered.

So basically, the claim would be. The bible originally said the “Lion and the lamb”. Then there was a quantum disturbance, which disturbs our timeline. Somehow, the result of that disturbance was that the verse was changed to “Wolf and the lamb”. This alters all of history after that point. Most people have no strong memory of the original event, so to those people, for all of history it was “Wolf and the lamb”. However, for people who had a strong memory of it for some reason (maybe a verse of special significance to some past tragedy), their memory isn’t altered, and they remember the event as it was in the original timeline, not as it was in the current timeline.

Basically, it is the universe changing past events to correct for something, which would be like time travel, except nothing is actually sent back in time.

In other words, when Marty went back in time in Back to the Future II, he changed events by taking the sports almanac (which Biff stole and gave to his past self). When Marty returned to the altered timeline, he knew it was wrong, and remembered all the events of his original timeline. But others around him only knew of the current timeline. Then he had to go back to repair the timeline.

The Mandella Effect is like that, but doesn’t require any physical time travel. It is the result of a quantum change that has some effect of the property of either time, or reality (other dimensions merging together).

          1. And your evidence that these supposed events changing time cannot change some people’s memory of the events is…. that some people don’t remember it the same. Why do you think anyone should take you seriously? Your evidence that these things happened is just some people’s spotty memory. Your evidence that memory can be immune to these effects, where the books on your shelf are not immune to those effects, is that you remember something different than what the books say. You can’t see how completely bonkers this is?

          2. Yeah I’ve heard of it. Seems to only affect KJV. It is just Bible illiteracy. How does one know what was said if they didn’t read it themselves? This just boils down to the question “Does God exist?” If you say yes, then you can not accept the idea that the mandela effect changed the bible. Unless you believe in multiple Gods, but just one you. Which is about stupid when you give it serious thought. No, book publishers are the ones changing the word of truth by making ESVs, NIVs, ASVs, and so on. In fact, it is very serious to catch yourself thinking that mandela effect has changed the Bible. Are you sure that you believe in God? Because he said that his word will always be here.

          3. It’s not “Mandella” or “Mandalla”; it’s “Mandela”, pronounced man-DEL-uh. Nelson Mandela was the Black hero of South Africa, imprisoned for his work against apartheid.

The effect is so-called because there are many people who swear they thought he died in the 1980s. But actually it was a different African leader who died then; they just conflated the two in their memories. It’s called “confabulation” when you do something like that.

And that’s what is happening here with the lion-and-lamb controversy. Allusions, whether in sermons or in illustrations or stained-glass windows, put “lion and lamb” together, but that’s not how it was written in the Book of Isaiah.

People are reading the Bible closer than ever before thanks to the widespread use of electronic copies of the Bible on websites like BibleGateway.com . So now things they have taken for granted are shown to be mistaken or confabulated. But for some reason, some folks can’t accept that and assume that reality itself must have changed.

Now isn’t that really a form of arrogance, even hubris? To assume that you *cannot* be wrong; it must be the external world that has changed.

Perhaps it’s pride, too. It’s hard to admit that something you’ve believed for so long, like the lion-and-lamb verse, is wrong.

I would caution everyone who is assuming that *they* are right and the rest of the world is wrong, that the evidence of their eyes is wrong. It’s no sin to be mistaken, but obstinance and pride are sins.

            Peace.

      4. I don’t believe in the Mandela effect, and az ppl should know that it iz a very dangerous thing to mess with the word of God, I chooze to onely read from the KJB. And I agree with the man who wrote this whole article.

      5. It seems much more likely that someone paraphrased it or took creative license in some Hym or popular work of art a long time back and it was very popular, and often repeated, and more art and more sermons used the imagery, to the point that even if you happened to read the actual verse, you kind of saw what you wanted to see. That is a real thing that happens in the world. Mandela effect is just that. Saturday night live made everyone think that Sarah Palin claimed she could see Russia from her house. That actually only ever happened on Saturday Night Live, but people continue to attribute the quote to her. That is your “Mandela Effect”.

      6. Yes! You are absolutely right!
What’s worse than Bible verses being changed is articles like this!
So many people are going to be deceived.
I just found about Hebrews 11:34 the other day. “Aliens”?!
The word aliens is now in the Bible?

        1. Get a dictionary.

OED: 1.A.1 gen. Belonging to another person, place, or family; strange, foreign, not of one’s own.

  2. All great points.

Unfortunately, we Christians will have to deal with this more and more in the future, as people keep getting dumber all the time.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus!

  3. If read with discernment Isaiah 6:6,7,8,9 does say that Wolves,Lions, Lambs, leopards, kids, calves, cows, bears, will feed, play and lie down together. Nothing will destroy in all of Gods Holy Mountain.
What does it matter if we don’t quite remember the exact quote as long as we understand the meaning. Love, and Peace eternally(even between child and animals), for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord. Nothing will hurt or destroy in Gods righteous kingdom.

    1. What matters is that some people think their King James Bibles have been changed under their noses. This is just another way of casting doubt on the veracity of God’s word. And of course the exact readings matter. Do you have a Scriptural authority for saying that we shouldn’t care about how God gave the words, and that we are free to ignore them in favor of a generalized “message” we prefer?

      1. But the Bible used to say “new wine into old wineskins” . Now the KJV says “bottles” not “wineskins”. Also new KJV Bibles refer to “Corn” where it used to say grain, or wheat, or grainshares. There wasn’t even corn in the middle east at that time. Its from the Americas. Also, have no recollection of ever being taught where Christ says to slay his enemies in Luke. I know its the parable of the Minas but my grandfather was a preacher, I went to service at least twice a week my whole childhood and I was never taught this. Any thoughts anyone?

        1. I’ll reply to the “corn” of wheat. Corn means large grain. Look up corned beef, no reference to an ear of corn but the large salt grain used to cure the beef. So the corn of wheat is the wheat grain.

    2. It matters a great deal IF you believe what “the Lord God Almighty” saith about HIS WORD – for the promise is given unto those will accept it:
      “THAT I MIGHT MAKE THEE KNOW THE CERTAINTY OF THE WORDS OF TRUTH;
that thou mightest answer THE WORDS OF TRUTH to them that send unto thee?”
      (Proverbs 22:21 ~ AV)

      – AND the statement written in the Holy Bible [AV]:
“EVERY WORD OF GOD IS PURE:
he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
ADD THOU NOT UNTO HIS WORDS, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”
      (Proverbs 30:5-6 ~ AV) + Psalm 12:6-8 [AV]
      .

  4. Could you kindly look into this verse Luke 5:37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

As far as I can remember back in my younger days the word “bottles” should be “wineskins”, otherwise the verse does not make any sense. Bottles don’t burst. easily like wineskins.

I found this in my recently bought KJV (Thomas Nelson) with a note at the end of the verse: wineskins be ruined. Another KJV of mine, the 1611 400th anniversary (Oxford) fascimile copy also has the words “bottles”.

    Which one is correct?

      1. BOTTLES is a word switch. My 1967 AKJV still has old wineskins. You do not break a bottle by overfilling it. Our Bibles are under attack. JESUS CHRIST is the WORD OF GOD. The Bible is a BOOK, and subject to the elements of this world. WAKE UP! THE KJV now has DOCTRINAL, SPELLING, GRAMMAR, PUNCTUATION errors, and nonsense verses.

        1. Your “1967 AKJV” is probably a “New Scofield Reference Bible” which is neither Scofield or King James. You could save yourself a lot of trouble by just looking up the word “bottle” in a good dictionary. Bottles can be made of more than just glass. The word is bottle.

          1. I rebuke your ignorance and lies in the Name of Jesus!!!!! The end times are near and his people are on alert!!! We have hidden his words in our heart and we are sober minded as to what is going on!

          2. If you only have your own fallible memory as your final authority you have no foundation for rebuking anyway. You Mandela effect people have sent me a mountain of hate mail and not a single rational explanation of what you believe. You can’t remember a verse correctly so you think the whole Universe has been twisted inside-out. You have no final authority but your own fallible mind.

          3. Question. Does the Bible say God’s name is Jealous? or just that he is a jealous God?

          4. Exodus 34:14 (KJV) For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

        2. you have obviously never made any wine.. If you put new wine in a bottle and don’t release the pressure often the bottle will explode. try it sometime if you are brave enough

        1. As I said, you guys could save yourself a lot by just opening a dictionary. Here is the FIRST definition of bottle (n2) from the Oxford English Dictionary:

          1. a.1.a A vessel with a narrow neck for holding liquids, now usually made of glass; originally of leather.

Do you see that? ORIGINALLY OF LEATHER. Your private definition of “bottle” is an anachronism.

Now I am sure some of these Mandela effect people will tell me that not only did someone change “wineskins” to “bottle,” they went and edited the OED, too!

          1. Yes, that is exactly what the Mandela Effect would do. It would alter reality so that dictionaries change, past usage changes, EVERYTHING could change!

          2. And, conveniently, there would be no evidence. We just have to take your word for it.

    1. WINE SKINS IT WAS ALWAYS WINE SKINS NEVER EVER IN THE KJV BIBLE SAID BOTTLES. Also in genesis 1:1 ….God created the heavens now says heaven. I looked into a 170 year old KJV and everything changed there to. It was lions not wolf. Some people hardly read bibles anymore so they turn all this into something stupid like secular quotes or what ever. Most ibibles are changing in thin air but there will be those who know not much of what some or much of veresus anyway. Study folks research bible words have changed blame it on satan and CERN what ever.

      1. So confused. You make these proclamations with no evidence. The King James Bible has BOTTLES. Modern CORRUPTIONS, even some that put “King James” on their spine, say “wine skins.” Instead of looking at a dictionary you think the whole Universe has been changed on you. Lunacy!

      2. Whoops!, mandella forgot to change some of the older translations!! Even the 170 yr old ones. No problem, mandella will change mandella next, eh? And next you’ll try convincing people mandella made the earth flat. My 145 yr old KJV has “bottles”. There are Severe Curses to go on people adding to, or taking away, of Yehovah’s eternal Word.

    2. I agree with Brandon & I have a KJV (Thomas Nelson) Study Bible & it says in the Footnotes at bottom of page Bottles are wineskins. No one or anything changed My Bible I just forgot what it said. That isn’t the first time this has happen to me the other was How the 10 Commandment were written by God. I thought he wrote 5 Commandments on one tablet & 5 on the other
      Exodus 32:15-16
And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on BOTH their SIDES; on the one side and on the other were they written

  5. This is a wonderful bible reference thank you for the insight. Recently people have been saying there is a thing called the mandella effect that is responsible for these changes, it had me concerned. Thanks for clearing that nonsense up just more of Satan’s old tricks. Lol!

    1. The “mandela effect” is a bizarre science fiction/fantasy theory being used to ask “yea, hath God said” just as the serpent did in Genesis 3:1. It’s one of the stranger ways I have seen people get out of having a final authority. People would rather believe that the pages on their King James Bible have been altered on their shelves while they slept, rather than accept that their memory is faulty or that they took a sermon or song and “remembered” it as Scripture when it was not… whatever you can do to make your own mind your final authority seems to be what people want.

      1. Brandon your head is up your 4th point of contact you’re merely chirping like a canary. “No prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation”
You are dumber than a pet rock if you support and uphold that carnal brain of yours. We’re in the strong delusion knuckle head “lying signs and wonders” I suppose you believe the garden of eve apple version fable also huh

        1. Let’s just be clear. You don’t believe God could preserve his word. You think that all of our King James Bibles were silently, magically altered in the night. Since you “remember” verses differently than they are actually PRINTED, you assume the whole universe is under some kind of spell that has changed all the King James Bibles. And you think I am “dumber than a pet rock?”

          1. Brandon, just for the record here, you’re a super guy and I’m sincerely thankful for you, including your intellect, patience and example. These days we’re living in… ‘all we like sheep’, perhaps even more stupid. Cheers.

    2. Unfortunately there are a constantly increasing number of people who say that they are Christians – But are making the personal choice to believe in the Satanically inspired and led ‘Mandela-Effect’ – an OCCULT Religious Belief \ Doctrine \ Philosophy – The following is an excerpt from an article ‘online’
      – ‘Did You Know There’s A Term For When You’re Totally Positive Something Happened Even Though It Didn’t?
It’s called the ‘Mandela-Effect’ – and a lot of people think it’s proof of an alternate universe.
      – The ‘Mandela-Effect’ is a theory put forth by writer and “paranormal consultant” Fiona Broome that shared false memories are in fact glimpses into parallel worlds with different timelines.’
      — Matthew Perpetua / BuzzFeed Staff @
      https://www.buzzfeed.com/perpetua/mandela-effect?utm_term=.orak8LYR8#.guONJ5aDJ

Also what Fiona Broome says about herself @ http://mandelaeffect.com/about/
      .

  6. Another one is ‘Spare the rod and spoil the child’, but if you read Proverbs 13:24; “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” People seem to like the first one better though, possibly because they spared the rod on their children and can’t figure out why they are in trouble now.

    1. Umm, that statement makes no sense. The proverb you quoted is in AGREEMENT with Proverbs 13:24.
It means, IF you spare the rod, THEN the result will be that you have spoiled, i.e., ruined, the child. Anyone using this phrase knows bloody well why a child who was spared the rod would turn out poorly; they’re not scratching their heads over it as you seem to think.

  7. Brandon, sadly youre wrong! Mandela effect is real and for you to say otherwise is crazy. I remember a verse saying Love is the greatest command but now its Charity. Jesus wanted us to Love not to do charity.

    1. It has always been Charity in the King James. Charity is a beautiful word that means more than love. You are working with a faulty definition of “charity.” In the Bible, it is not about charity in the sense of non-taxable transactions like we use it today. It means Christian brotherly love in action. Regardless, if you believe your Bible has been changed on the shelf by some science fiction fantasy called the “Mandela effect” then you have only your own mind as your final authority and don’t believe God is capable of preserving his word.

    2. Charity by definition is love. Agape love. Modern English describes charity as something akin to giving to the poor. 16th century English had a much broader meaning for charity: In a general sense, love, benevolence, good will; that disposition of heart which inclines men to think favorably of their fellow men to think favorably of their fellow men, and to do them good. In a theological sense, it includes supreme love to God, and universal good …

  8. There is a video by someone “on YouTube” that states that our bibles have been changed. Come on give me a break! Basically they are saying God is so weak that demons floated in our houses and changed the word of God. Please don’t listen to everything people say! God Bless you all.

    1. Exactly. This kind of bizarre nonsense is just another way to cast doubt on God’s word. People pushing these theories have only their own mind as their final authority.

      1. Some of scriptures art changed….. we now pray the Lord in truth and spirit….. the Law is written upon the tables on our hearts

        1. All you have is an incorrect memory of a verse. That doesn’t mean the whole universe was altered while you slept. Be rational! If you can’t find your keys where you think you left them it doesn’t mean someone came into your house and hid them from you. It means you forgot where they were.

    2. Not demons, the merging of multiple … oh forget it. You won’t believe me anyways even though string theory has been proven. Galaxies collide so why can’t universes do the sane within the multiverse. Just saying.

      1. I like science fiction as much as the next guy, but I recognize the operative word FICTION. If you believe there is a “multiverse” that God cannot control and that his words are being altered by “colliding universes” then perhaps you would be more at home with a Star Trek novelization than the Bible.

  9. I have a concern, the verse in revelation about deleting or adding from God’s Word…, those of us who who bought these altered versions under the assumption they were authentic translations. Are we under that curse? And what should we do with them? I’ve purchased several versions for bible study and reading, such as KJV, NLT, ESV, NKJV, HCB, & TLB. I’m definitely keeping and using the KJV from this point on. Goid is awesome

    1. First of all, there is no way possible for a born-again Christian to lose his salvation. Let’s just get that out there.

Secondly, I don’t think naïvely using modern Bible translations count as messing with God’s word. Many of us came out of modernism, including myself. Those “translators” will have a lot to answer for, no doubt, but there is no danger of loss of salvation for a Church age believer, period.

      1. Thanks for all you do. Yes, those devout men that did the translation for King James wanted to be as accurate as they could, as they really feared God. The Satanic realms have indeed done everything they could to dilute, detour, and destroy the True Church.
        However, regarding some prevalent doctrines:
What part of the Scripture did you miss where Paul and the writer of Hebrews warn of quenching the Spirit, whereby one loses the Salvation that only comes by faith. The point being: if one has no faith, and no corresponding actions they are lost. If all saints were perfectly preserved, then why does the Scripture warn those bodies. Why would a Church, a part of the Body have its lampstand removed, and Jesus is outside the door knocking? Why does Paul warn about the natural branches broken off to the wild ones that are merely grafted on? The OSAS doctrine, (along with the idea of an anytime any moment First Resurrection) is almost heresy. (I’m not so dogmatic as some, but it is problematic.)

I know the Calvinists would say, ‘They never were saved”, but then why would Paul exhort us to ‘examine ourselves’ to see that we’re in the Spirit, the only One that is Jesus/God within us that will seal us for that Day. (Sorry if I rambled on, but feel this is a mission.)

        1. You are very confused about salvation if you think it can be lost. You can’t earn it — you certainly can’t keep it. What you call “heresy” is the only thing that makes sense — we have to trust entirely on Christ’s finished work, and not at all in any of our works. I have posed this for you: Once saved always saved?

      2. I have been following these threads, Brandon and I just wanted to say that you are right on point and I support your rebuttals 100% and thank you for your due diligence!

  10. Eph.6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh, and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

And WE must put on The Whole Armor of God! (my comment in agreement with The Lord our God)

    1. Amen Sharmaine. As a matter of fact I’m studying the “”Full Armor of God” now. What each piece represents, how Paul received this vision in detail from GOD, EVERY detail about the Armor Of GOD I want and need to know. I KNOW I am a full blown out Christian lady and I know I put my Armor of God on everyday. We all have to or we wouldn’t be able to fight off all the demons and the devil, it would be a losing battle for us without our Armor of God on!!!

  11. I think the lion and lamb saying comes from the song “Peace In The Valley.” You have to be careful not to get your doctrine from songs, or at least make sure they line up with scripture. A good example is “Lily of the Valley” In Song of Solomon the reference is clearly to the Church, not to Christ. It is the bride (The Church) making the statement “I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.” not the bridegroom.

  12. Regardless of what you believe, I am shocked by the meanness in some of these comments. If you have read the Word of God you would know the importance of words and the power of the “mouth”. I pray that we would all change our speech be it through spoken words or typed. God bless

    1. And, Sister Cathline Johnson, in this year 2018, what you said in 207 is STILL true. Lord help us ALL! Amen, and God’s blessings to you

  13. Instead of debating this, Anthony Patch who is a reborn born again christian has been studying this phenomenon for years. He comes from a Christian scientific perspective. Yes, being loving and kind to one another in the midst of all of this is the most important thing we can do.

    1. Amen. You are so very correct Ann. I too have been studying much of Anthony Patch’s work. Everyone on this blog should look him up and research his work as well. You can also go to a video on U-Tube (one of many) that discuss the Mandela Effect, biblical changes and much more. (2018) Biblical Changes, Mind Control & the Quantum Effect. The video addresses all of these issues being discussed herein. From there, you will have volumes & volumes of information on subjects as these which can answer many questions you may already have and you will have opened your mind up to innumerable more questions regarding these perilous times we’re in. So many things are happening all around us, I encourage everyone to watch, read and learn, study. And I feel compelled to say …..the lion will lay down with the lamb. Thank you dear Heavenly Father for forever burning Your Word into my heart and mind so that I may know Your Word and for giving me eyes that I may see and for ears that I may hear …

  14. Proof:
that “the lion shall lay down with the Lamb” is the correct scripture.
when they travelled back in time and changed the bible.
they couldn’t change online posts re: the scripture.
so while the bible changed it didn’t change people who posted the scripture online with pictures of lions and lambs.
In revelations, it talks about the great deception that will come on the world.
Folks its begun. if you didn’t know that scripture cause it was written on your heart. You are in trouble. They are changing the very word of our Lord.
i can give you examples of five more things they have changed in the bible now.
its getting bad pray that our Lord returns to punish the heritics changing our Bibles.
why does it matter they changed lion and lamb to wolves and lamb.
because lion represents our lord and savior, lambs are his church,
wolves represent satan. and lambs are the church. God forbid we would lay down with Satan.

    1. We as Christians referenced as “sheep” but not usually as lambs. Jesus, on the other hand, is referenced as the Lamb of God who was slain for the sins of the world. But Jesus is also reference as the Lion of Judah who shall rule and reign forever and ever! It most likely always said the wolf and the lamb and many people are mis-remembering. Perhaps being confused by a song or a sermon heard in the past like the one below:
      The Lion and the Lamb
He’s coming on the clouds, kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break, as broken hearts declare His praise
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before You
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Oh every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
So open up the gates, make way before the King of kings
Our God who calls the saved is here to set the captives free
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?
Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before You
      Our God…
      Think about it…..

  15. This site is lying… It has always been until the Mandela Effect, been, The Lion Shall Lay Down With the Lamb… The Lion of Judah with the Lamb of Christ which is both representing Christ. Lamb when he came into the world to heal with his gentle and strong ways, then when he returns as the LION of JUDAH to make right the evil on this planet. Look up the Mandela Effect, It is known that the reason why some people are misremembering it to be the Wolf and the Lamb is because things have been altered DELIBERATELY. Can you imagine, some remember it being a Snake and a Lamb… It makes no sense to be a wolf and a lamb u unless it “little red ridding hood” Meaning It is Christ’s journey as a Lamb initially to do his ministry and then his return will be for JUSTICE against Darkenss.. Let NO Man add to or take away from his words which are being done left and right… Lion makes PERFECT sense.. He was/IS the Lion of Juday !!!! Many other scriptures have been tampered with and anyone on this site that says it was always a Wolf had their memories tampered with… Just research the Mandela Effect. I have a Bible from when a little girl and it always said Lion and Lamb…..

    1. Also through subliminal in movies it has been changed, mocking Christ IE: in Twilight Vampire Movie.. He says Lion Fell in Love with the Lamb.. Always Mocking true scripture.. Get with it people….. Soon more will be changed in the words of the bible.. Just like the “Lords Prayer” never debts and debtors, always it was forgive me my trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.. Lots has been removed, vanished mysteriously and even scholars have notice and counted how many words have bene changed MYSTERIOUSLY , in their words which as you know scientists and scholars don’t use the word mystery much.. Its all cut and dry except even they are noticing and also those that are not young pip-squeaks who profess to know all when they are just wet behind the ears. Check out CERN and the Mandela Effect

  16. By the way George, I don’t know that song, nor listened to Christian songs such as the one you mentioned but The Lion and Lamb came from actual scriptures for me, from the actual Bible. But to the rest, the Bibles have been changed, even ones from 1611 have been changed as well..SUPERNATURALLY.. IE: there are some that have most of the original translations and who have read say from the 1611 version, very untainted version and when shows examples on Youtube how once a scripture that they read over and over for years actually changed in just days… YES Mysteriously changing before his eyes… This Mandela Effect will trick many into believing things were always written a certain way when they were not originally. Can you imagine changing and taking away Christ’s Divinity as the returning Lion (King) of Judah to a Wolf.. Wow, talk about making him look like a liar instead of the symbolism of King… King of Judah… Makes sense he came as a Lamb to Heal, but will Return as a Lion of Judah to Make right the abominations that has transpired through the earth… Then after his return when the healing takes place, that the Lion and Lamb can sit together in PEACE without harm to one another and throughout his whole land.. Now Wolf and Lamb makes no sense when you think about it because it really was never Wolf and Lamb… And King of Animals is always been called the Lion, but symbolically is the King of Judah, it has Always been Lion and Lamb to the point that statues were showing Lion and Lamb always, even ones you can purchase now.. The problem with the Mandela Effect is they are still working out kinks in changing the words of God, eventually hoping to delete it completely out.so there will be no residual evidence

  17. Remember is the last days darkness will be upon the whole earth, GOD is NOT weak but there is a short period that even the very Elect of God would be deceived.. YES Bible verses have been changed. Modernism isn’t a good thing by the way… Pip Squeaks always think they know more then those that were learned long before they came along. Another example of sons and daughters rising up against parents for their names sake… Yes… be careful about modernism… Its very misleading and words MATTER.. The Bible said DO NOT ADD TO or TAKE AWAY from HIS World and HE MEANT IT

  18. I used to read the lion will lay down with the lamb and quote it because that was always a special one for me, also videos and songs reading it as well so it’s interesting that they changed the wording as lion and wolf are so spiritually symbolically different! The word stuff is now in bible and everyone remembers wine skins. I know it’s a distraction and enemy can cause confusion and I’ve seen this happen. My friends mom used to have a lion lamb figurine I always admired.

  19. I would swear it was ‘lion’ if asked but this mandela effect talk got me to question stuff so now I ask this: why would the ‘lion’ be mentioned twice, if it is indeed ‘lion’ lays down with the lamb? All the pictures out there that show a lion with a lamb, that needs some explaining, but is some popular quote got started using lion, and people just assumed that’s what they read in the bible, when in fact, few have actually read the bible. Surely there should be actual video of people reading that passage way back before? Can someone find anything? Also, I do remember something from perhaps school days back 70’s where the new translations altered loads of stuff to be ‘modern’ ized and use words we today would understand rather than the oldy worldy ancient ‘proper’ text xlation. Food for thought?

  20. Lion as in Lion of Judah? We know who that is.
Lamb as in Lamb of God? We know who that is.

Lamb of God has come and will open the Seals.
Lion has yet to come and rule in the Mellinium.

    Both are same Jesus.

  21. The wolf and lamb does makes sense. In this part of the chapt each animal is coupled with that one which is its natural prey. A fit state of things under the “Prince of Peace” (Isa 65:25; Eze 34:25; Ho 2:18). These may be figures for men of corresponding animal-like characters (Eze 22:27; 38:13; Jer 5:6; 13:23; Mt 7:15; Lu 10:3). Still a literal change in the relations of animals to man and each other, restoring the state in Eden, is a more likely interpretation. Compare Ge 2:19, 20, with Ps 8:6-8, which describes the restoration to man, in the person of “the Son of man,” of the lost dominion over the animal kingdom of which he had been designed to be the merciful vicegerent under God, for the good of his animal subjects (Ro 8:19-22).

No nefarious supernatural change happened in scripture to do with this verse.

The wolf… the leopard… the young lion… the bear are the only ferocious animals of Palestine, where the tiger, the crocodile, the alligator, and the jaguar are unknown. That the Palestinian bear was carnivorous, and a danger to man, appears by Lamentations 3:10; Daniel 7:5; Amos 5:19. A little child shall lead them. Man’s superiority over the brute creation shall continue, and even be augmented. The most powerful beasts shall submit to the control of a child.

The point of the passage in question is that; There will be harmony in creation. Scripture is beautiful!

    1. Finding your articulate, rational comment amidst this deluge of ignorant sentimentality reminds me of the old story of the little girl excitedly shoveling her way through an enormous pile of horse manure. When asked why in the world she would do such a thing, she answered enthusiastically, “I just KNOW there’s a pony in here someplace!”

Many thanks for providing the pony.

  22. Someone referenced Gill earlier referring to the lion and a lamb quote from him.

Interestingly enough in Gill’s commentary of this passage he writes:

“Isaiah 11:7, describe the peaceableness of the Messiah’s kingdom; and which the Targum introduces in this manner,

“in the days of the Messiah of Israel, peace shall be multiplied in the earth.”

The wild and tame creatures shall agree together, and the former shall become the latter; which is not to be understood literally of the savage creatures, as if they should lose their nature, and be restored, as it is said, to their paradisiacal estate, which is supposed to be the time of the restitution of all things; but figuratively of men, comparable to wild creatures, who through the power of divine grace, accompanying the word preached, shall become tame, mild, meek, and humble; such who have been as ravenous wolves, have worried Christ’s sheep, made havoc of them, breathing out slaughter and threatenings against them, as did Saul, through converting grace, become as gentle and harmless as lambs, and take up their residence in Christ’s fold, and dwell with, yea, some of them even feed, Christ’s lambs and sheep, as the above mentioned person: ”

What a beautiful time this will be to exist in Gods creation!

Let us not lose sight of what is meant here, and in difficult passages, allow scripture to interpret scripture. Be steadfast and patient, pray and study and the truth will set you free.

  23. Brandon, I read all of your posts here and I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!! I am a Christian, who has fortunately sat under great KJV Bible preachers and teachers for years. YEARS AGO I remember our pastor quoting this Isaiah 11:6 verse and taking us to it. He asked how many of us thought it was lion and lamb. we were surprised that it said wolf. Then he explained as this post did. If I have always been in the Word, and still have to go to the text sometimes myself, it is amazing that people in this world who have never even CLAIMED to be saved are now experts in it. :/ Also, you had people using perversions and going by these man made books that completely butchered it from cover to cover, but now they are UP IN OURS BECAUSE ONE WORD HAS CHANGED? COME ON… And those of you who were true Bible believers, shame on your for believing your GOD IS THIS WEAK!!!! YOU WAKE UP!!! My God MADE this universe out of NOTHING, He SAVED MY SOUL AND WILL KEEP ME, He DEFEATED SATAN ON THE CROSS, He was born of a VIRGIN, He has the keys of death, hell AND THE GRAVE, He is COMING BACK, AND HE WILL PRESERVE HIS WORD! I don’t care how many imps of hell the cern lets out or how many dimensions they pull out of or how much time travel they do, or if the sun is a different sun now, or we really died in 2012, or whatever else New AGE OCCULT GARBAGE THEY ARE POLLUTING OUR MINDS WITH! GOD IS GO OF THE UNIVERSE AND HIS WORD IS PURE, AND IT IS PERFECT, AND IT IS ETERNAL. I’m sorry. but these people who are thinking this garbage were either reading a polluted translation to begin with or sorry scoffield notes, or just plain didn’t hide God’s Word in their heart correctly. I know they are playing with us on this stuff. No doubt about that. Who is at the top of google, face book, the media, etc. They have technology now that can duplicate a voice, exactly. They can use holograms, etc. Satan is a deceiver and a liar. But there is no much new age vile in this mandela effect thing that it stinks to high heaven. God IS IN CONTROL. THEY ARE LITTLE PEONS. HIS WORD IS SECURE. YOU CAN “BANK” ON THAT. Those people that want to talk about the word “bank”. Ask God to help you discern this mess. He did me. Mainly by what he TEACHES IN HIS WORD. Goodnight all.

  24. The only reason the “Mandela effect” is getting any traction among Christians is because we’ve grown up through a multigenerational attack on God’s pure words the KJB. The “Mandela effect” was started in the garden of Eden, and has had many contributors (Jehudi, Westcott &Hort, Nestles-Aland, etc) up to this present day. Every one of us has heard Scripture passages quoted from pulpits, radio, video, and even each other from multiple “versions” of God’s word. Before learning the truth about God’s preservation of His pure words. I spent over 25 yrs hearing multiple (sometimes contradictory) Scripture quotations. I’m still working through re-memorizing verses I knew from corrupt translations.

“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them O LORD thou shalt preserve the from this generation for ever”

If you believe the above Scripture, and you’re still getting sidelined by the “Mandela effect”. Turn off your YouTube videos and tap into the pure water of God’s preserved words in English. The KJB!

      1. When a church gets as deeply divided like this and you don’t know which side you are supposed to be on anymore, the best thing to do is hear what known enemies are saying and spreading and do the exact opposite. I still considered myself to be a Christian all while heavily involved in the new age metaphysical occult. God opened my eyes to the lie it is. He brought me to His Word. I trust it. All this Mandela effect stuff is a path that leads right back to the occult. It’s a path I refuse to get on again. Stay strong Brandon and don’t give in. You are defending God’s Word and getting spit in the face for it. Praise God!

  25. I guess hundreds upon hundreds of years and millions of Christians around the globe are all wrong with thier memory .

What’s gets me is those who can’t believe in the concept it changed by some force unknown to us. But believe in stories typed in a book about a force unknown .

Maybe God changed it to weed out the easyly fooled fools in his flock.

    1. Again, nothing more than guesses on your part… I know who gave us the Bible (it’s not an “unknown force”). Do you know these “millions of Christians around the globe” who are convinced the Bible used to say “the lion and the lamb?” And what an utterly foolish statement to say the God changed his own word to “weed out” people. God is NOT A LIAR. What blasphemy.

      1. We walk by faith and not by sight. It’s a lot easier to accept what you see isn’t it…. those of us who are clinging to the truth have to walk by faith now in an ever-changing world where reality is being distorted pray for eyes to see and ears to hear.
I believe Jesus is a descendant of the tribe of Judah…

I believe that one day the lion will lie down with the lamb…

I believe that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life…

I believe you can’t pour new wine into old wineskins…

I believe Jesus Christ is the Word of God made flesh…

I believe that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…

I believe that Moses delivered the 10 Commandments on stone tablets…

I believe that anything standing in disagreement with the things I just mentioned is not based in Truth…not because I remember them as having always been this way but because the Holy Spirit that dwells within me confirms these things have always been this way. I have seen this effect for what it is…there is deception in it as there is in all things. But it has drawn me into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ than I have ever had in my life. I’ll leave it with the words of the prophet Isaiah 55:8-9…God’s thoughts and ways are not our thoughts and ways. Consider the possibility that the spirit of the Antichrist is at work even now and know that there is a call being placed upon many who haven’t heard the call.

  26. The wolf is not a figure I remember from the passage. However, the “lion and the lamb” is honestly what I recall. If I were pulled from my bed in the middle of the night and asked to recite the passage that’s what I would say in a heartbeat without even thinking because it is ingrained in my heart. Maybe I’m wrong, I can accept that, my spirit is flawed which is why I need Jesus as my Savior. What bothers me is how many others don’t remember it this way either, and I do not believe those in the Spirit are liars nor do they have malice to lie about something so tied to their Faith in the WORD. I don’t know why this is happening, but I can sense something ominous is occurring to other believers too and know that there would great deceivers as foretold in the end of days.

I pray for God’s mercy on us all
In Christ Jesus Lord Almighty’s Name
    Amen

  27. Ok, so someone or some group went back in time and changed the original manuscript before it was translated into English.
That’s the only way all the bibles in the world could have been mysteriously changed overnight.
Is this what this Mandela Effect is saying ?
It sounds like the start of a pretty good SCI FI movie to me.

    1. “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
      (1 John 5:7)

There is little need for demonic time-travelling to be employed to alter and interfere with the Word of God, the simple evidence of man’s hatred and intollerance of revealled truth uses the simplest of methods…ommission.

  28. My KJV says wolf, bottles, stuff, and Lion of Judah and the lamb. The Mandela effect is just Satan trying to trick people. Don’t listen to the enemy. He comes to destroy and devour, steal and kill. Thank you Brandon ?

  29. This is the effect of too much time spent watching demonic influenced television shows and movies. The higher powers have bewitched so many into believing so much false doctrines and lies as truth people are so confused and lost. God is not an author of confusion the devil is. Reading through some of the comments help me realize something….some of you are lost. You believe in the Mandela effect instead of The Word of Jesus. When all the Bible’s are burned up and destroyed what will you do then…. was not Abraham made righteous because he believed God…. God is infinite and eternal. Time cannot change Him nor can He lie. He still speaks and if you would be still and know that He is God this debate wouldn’t be happening. Do your research it is bottle… simple research and faith. Examine yourself and see if you are in the faith.

  30. I’ve been out of church for quite some time, and have recently returned. I also haven’t read my Bible in a long time. I have a Thompson Chain King James reference Bible from years ago. I could have sworn that the words were wineskins and not bottles. What is going on?

  31. Brandon is right, and as we say in the South, Hogwash! There has been many scriptures quoted wrongly for 1000s of years, and then one day someone finally reads it correctly or interprets it correctly.

Let’s take the following scriptures that agree with each other, and one of them I know for a fact, has not been altered since I was able to start reading the Bible.

    Isaiah 65:25
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.

    Isaiah 11:7
And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

It is easy to use the above scriptures to understand why everyone thinks about the “Lion and Lamb lying down together”. It does not take a great leap of the imagination to see that the Lion and Lamb could be lying down together.

Again, the above two verses have not been changed. Why would those silly time travelers not change those verses, but change this verse? I mean if you are able to do such a thing, why would you just stop at this verse?

    Isaiah 11:6
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Also, there are many other scriptures of vastly more importance this Science Fiction Phenomenon would want to change. They would not be fooling with these simple things. They would change the blood, the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus. And guess what, some of the modern translations are trying to do just that thing, those treacherous translation committees are not waiting for the “Mandela Effect”. They are doing right before your eyes!

Some of you need to get a grip on life, and start thinking clearly. If you had been taught all your life that 2+2 is 3, then you would believe it, until someone took you to the side and show you clear evidence that it is 4. Some of you are believing 2+2 is 3, and the devil loves your ignorance.

  32. No, it does not say in Isaiah that ‘the lion will lie down with the lamb.’
But if Isaiah’s prophecy does come true, then we might reasonably deduce that lions really will lie down with lambs as well as with many other creatures, including people.
So it does not matter if the prophet does not state it specifically.
What it really means is that no living creature will hurt any other creature, and all will live in harmony and peace.
What a wonderful world!. I hope it all comes true.

  33. Confusion on Isaiah 11 vs 6 is explained by this song.

Elvis Presley’s song called Peace in the Valley, Released in 1957. Here is some of the lyrics.

Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
*********And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes*********
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be lit by a child
And I’ll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes

Also, the original manuscript of the King James Version correctly identifies a wolf and Lamb, not a lion and a lamb.

If someone was going to go back in time, in a time machine, they would certainly change something more important in the Bible than this, you know like the fact that Jesus is God?

The God I serve, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob certainly is powerful and all knowing enough to keep His Word intact and error free throughout the ages.

  34. I agree that it said the lion and the lamb. Remember that you will know a tree by its fruit. If you’ve studied your Word, then you KNOW these changes have been made. The Bible said there would be a famine OF HIS WORD. How could that be? It’s a tough pill to swallow … supernaturally our Bible has changed, especially in light of the truth that believers know that God’s Word is immutable. Therefore, since we know this truth, we must understand that the deception has begun. We must rely on the years of studying in which God inscribed His Word onto our hearts and minds. We have studied to show ourselves approved. God bless you all true brothers & sisters in Christ.

    1. Again, no evidence. There is not a single Bible in the history of the world that you can show said “lion and the lamb.” You haven’t “inscribed” God’s word on your heart, you’ve just decided you think it should say what “feels right” for you.

  35. Okay, Okay, enough of this foolishness!

The “Mandela Effect” is a lie.. it doesn’t exist.

ya’ll been deceived by a false spirit- most likely a witch
that created this whole thing on the internet.
It’s time to get right with God and start studying your bible.
Stop relying on “I’m sure it said this or that”

IF what you think is true, and all the bibles from the past 400 plus
years have been supernaturally changed, THEN – this would be the
biggest story in history! Imagine, books being changed?! it would
be all over CNN and FOX and all the other lame stream media outlets.

We can trust the KING JAMES BIBLE as the word of God.

It’s 2019 already, when will this Mandela bologna be over?

    1. It will never be over. These people have no interest in having a final authority outside of their own minds. There is not a single Bible in the history of the world that supports their “memory” of this verse, so they watch an episode of Fringe and think they’ve figured out what must have happened. There is no reasoning with them.

  36. Brandon,

I work for a ministry and answer many emails that come in. I cannot explain it but it seems to be virtually impossible to convince someone who believes in the Mandela Effect that it is nonsense. The Mandela Effect “thinking” has gone into Star Wars, Forrest Gump, The Berenstein Bears (don’t remember the spelling – don’t care), Jiffy Peanut Butter (didn’t exist), and a ton of other things. I’m not sure what Satan’s reasons would be for changing Darth Vader’s words from “No…I am your father” to “Luke, I am your father”, but that is a claim being made.

I don’t mean any offense to anyone but there seems to be something fundamentally flawed about the way people mentally approach the world that causes them to fall for this. It seems to work exactly like the belief in a flat earth. I have hope that someone can break out of it but I’ve never seen it happen and don’t understand it.

  37. Oh my Gosh, and we wonder why the church is falling into apostasy. Of all the things to supernaturally change why the lion and the lamb? Go back and look at the oldest Bible you can find and it is NOT the lion and the lamb. And by trying to allegorize it into Jesus before and after resurrection, the lamb, then the lion is unfounded and not supported by any serious bible study. When people take it upon themselves to reinterpret the bible according to their own feelings is why we have so many false and apostate churches feeding people with touchy feely churchianity. I am tired of people saying “I feel it means this” or “I think is says this” you see it in this tread over and over. know your bible and be able to argue the truth, 1 peter 3:15

  38. What about the word “aliens”? Has anyone ever read that word in the KJV of the Bible?
    Hebrews 11:34
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

God did say he would send a strong delusion. I’m keeping an open mind so that when it does come, I’m prepared and can see it for what it is. After all, Jesus did say “with God ALL things are possible…” did he not?

    1. What is wrong with the word alien? Don’t you have access to a dictionary? OED: 1.A.1 gen. Belonging to another person, place, or family; strange, foreign, not of one’s own.

I have received hundreds of comments like this. Someone thinks the word “alien” couldn’t possibly have been in the Bible, so therefore, Mandela Effect!

  39. tl:dr – arguing mandella effect is neither scirptural, nor logical. and if it were real, then be at peace in your faith- you are saved by faith in Jesus and repentance of sins. you need the milk of faith – you do not have the teeth to chew the meat, or you would know why this whole verse is full of predators that change in their ways.

before speaking, i’ll confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. i’ve repented my sins, and humbly march towards his kingdom. i studied in a seminary. none of that ought to be impressive or important besides that i simply wish to say that i love Jesus, my words are intended to edify as ever they may, and so that is where i am coming from.

i was appreciating everyone’s thoughts for the first few comments and i felt compelled to speak. ezekiel 33 convicts those given watch to speak- i was trained to watch in places such as this. im sure this is a repeat of other posts, but i will add this here for their benefit as well in that case. and to start, i will just expose this weed with a single sentence:

either the bible is the written word given to the people of God, or it is not.

that’s all. that’s actually the whole of my comment in a nutshell.

if you believe any force in the universe could change God’s written word to the people it is sent for then you do not believe in the Bible holding any sacred power as God is almighty and would not be changed by this effect. or indeed, even if you believe it could be changed because God allowed it to be changed to test believers- then how on earth do you or anyone else have anything to stand on that a single word, a single lesson, in any of it is true?

if every Bible could be spontaneously changed across the entire world (from dead sea scrolls and relics to kjv) – a monumental and specific shifting of mass, matter, material, meaning – why on earth do you think your own brain would be anything close to reliable in that world? humans take photographs and write everything down because of their constant awareness of the ephemerality of the mind and memory. anything that could change that detail in a meaningful way would also be changing you physically- and without you knowing. and if that is the case – then relax. that would mean there is absolutely no hope of ever knowing anything in this reality by your own powers and abilities.

and ironically, if you ever reached a place where you actually believed that – you would, in fact, be at the very door of true wisdom. the saints labored their whole lives to reach such a humble place, as did the greatest thinkers in history.

this line of thinking was covered in ancient philosophy a long time ago – it is true, you cannot be certain of your reality’s objective truth as it is colored by your perception. and yet, the Bible offers a beautiful solution even by the same prophet Isaiah as he speaks of the one followers of Christ do speak openly to be Jesus:

he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears (Isaiah 11:3, KJV)

you know… not the wisdom of the world…

so – just work backwards. the mandella effect argument is sensational, but it does not make sense matched with any of the rest of scripture- it does not make sense with the history of the faith’s praxis. to claim that it does means you are likewise willing to question all the rest of the Bible (and church forefather ancient writings referencing this text, and the dead sea scrolls, etc. etc.). that is the unfortunate logic of your argument- if we take it to be absolutely true that this verse was changed by the mandella effect, then it would follow that every verse would be in question. as would your memory. as would any congregations memory. as would the collective memory of everyone on every thing.

aaaannnddd welcome to the post-truth era. this one silly mechanic has masses of people chasing their tales all over. but that is really all that it is… a trap for the mind: suggest something sensational that cannot be confirmed or denied by science while presenting cherry picked and sensational support that further endears the audience to the power of the world the trap is establishing.

that’s where sensations and conspiracies like the mandella effect grab people. you cannot think your way out of them logically if you step into the world where they are true. because if you step into that box – then you are not allowed to use the same method to get back out – your own logic has to be questioned in the world where everything is constantly shifting and changing. its like a bug trap – its easy to slip in, and the opening is just folded inward so that you cannot crawl back out the same way even though the space is open.

for the record, in case anyone thought my explenation might be without practical use – this is the same tactic that every major pyramid / mutli-level marketing group uses to ensare victims. a combination of linguistics and logic that detain and disable a person’s confidence in their tools of defense – at which point, the new reality can continue to be spoon fed.

and if you don’t like any of this, or are one of the people that think Paul was against using any form of logic when he railed against philosophers (col 2:8) – he was talking about this sort of situation, not logic. Paul used logic regularly – if Jesus were not risen, than this gospel is in vain, but as Jesus is risen, this gospel saves (1 Cor 15:13). Jesus also was fond of logic – observing the nature of a tree by its fruit, or his argument that casting out demons could not make him the devil as doing His Father in heaven’s work only strengthen’s God’s kingdom and so would literally just… not make sense…

so- the lion and the lamb is easier to remember because in the english language, it scans better because of alliteration. it was naturally recorded as such by numerous orators and entertainers etc. etc. for that reason – it flows better. sure- it is present in other cultures as well. so is mickey mouse. so is marvel. like the silk road and paul, christians use all the airwaves today to propogate the gospel. i dont mean to get too beaudrillard about that, but the english language really dominated media at its outset. but as some will be unsatisfied with that line of thinking, i’ll leave it and move on-

even as the verse is mis-remembered- so is the context of the verse misremembered. Jesus is called many things in the Bible, from a lamb to a lion. perhaps saying the lion will dwell with the lamb becomes a statement of the two becoming one? which is a totally cool statement! but the verse in context, where referencing wolf – is speaking about an animal that did not symbolically have a place at the table. and yet – there would come a time with a wolf would dwell with a lamb in peace. i have often meditated on this verse in reference to Revelation where it is said that there are no dogs in what sounds to be the sacred city of heaven (Rev 22:15) (and i say sounds because that is just how my mind interprets it- God did not reveal its literal meaning to me as of yet, and people who interpret the symbols of prophetic text as if God told them when God did not are… really in need of sitting for a lesson, not a seat of authority ).

it says the wolf will dwell with the lamb in the kjv. these are obviously symbols – and if anyone is so hung up on wolves… lion is just as easily interchangeable with Jesus as satan (1 peter 5:8). so if we accept that the symbols do not always mean the same thing in every prophecy and word in the Bible (they do not, lions for example are used in positive and negative application throughout the Biblical canon) – then see what happens if you read it as it is.

if you truly believe the wolf is the symbol of all evil, then is it not inspiring that this dangerous creature would dwell peacefully with the lamb? the rest of this verse is full of predatory creatures written to dwell peacefully- to have a CHANGED nature while still being themselves.

which brings me to my last statement. the great source of all of this silly tail eating snake of a mind trap is hinged off of how this verse in Isaiah gets paired up with the caution of Jesus to beware false prophets as they come in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravening wolves (matt 7:15).

everyone gets really puffed up about this verse as no one takes the the time to read it and think about it. Jesus even frequently reminds people listening to him that they are like sheep compared to him as a sheperd. hearing people interpret this is like watching sheep try to offer artistic opinions to the sheperd on fashion done in wool. just read it –

let go of wolves, because Jesus is not talking about a four legged canine but of a false person in the congregations. and furthermore – if you dig further… you will never see a single canine predator in the entire animal kingdom that uses camouflage like deception to trick its prey and infiltrate its numbers. that is not even how canines work.

so the first message is one of great alarm – something UNATURAL is happening.

second – wolves have no thumbs. and they have no industry. so… if a wolf is wearing sheep’s wool… the real question is – who put them in that wool? who is the bad sheperd? (trick question)

the real message is : YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TELL THEM APART FROM THE REAL THING BY THEIR APPEARANCE. they will look like, smell like, act like and speak like a believer- up to a point.

and there, Jesus gives the remedy- look at the fruit that they bring forth. a false prophet will bring forth false fruits. a false spiritual leader, friend, believer will not, by their hands and actions and by their relationships, yield up observable evidence that their lives are, indeed, claimed by Christ’s mighty sacrifice.

so… think about that. because these sorts of word games do have a huge effect in the world. in the united states, for example, nearly all of the wild wolf population has been exterminated. and almost assuredly due to this biblical error. and this is inspite of the fact that most ecologists share that natural wolves are an essential part of the ecosystem (check out yellowstone for example and the re-introduction of wolves). these are not false prophets… their animals. literal wolves. i have never heard a single one of them speak a single false word – they behave entirely in accordance with their nature. and i absolutely never want to be caught alone in the wild by a pack of them – but i dont want to be caught alone by a group of lions either. because those arent metaphors in a book – they’re animals.

i wanted to take this time because i studied these materials. ive walked as a christian, was raised a follower of Jesus. i could try to offer specific fruits from my life, but… this comment here is one of them. i wish for you to have peace, and to grow in understanding in your walk. i offer these words to believers and to non-believers alike to scan the logic and the presentation – not for my sake, but for your own. i am not the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the light. i’m not even worthy to point.

so – whatever these words make you think or feel – just take it before Jesus and continue your walk in peace. much love to you all! and thank you for starting the thread! in the spirit of online discourse, i have not gone back and edited – if i left out any citations of scripture that anyone finds difficult, i shall happily remedy. later!

  40. Well, if it was only one verse, then yes maybe we didn’t remember correctly, however it is more than one verse, for instance: Genesis 31:37 Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.
The word used to be “possessions” and now to “stuff”… I can find no historical evidence for the translators of the AKJV nor any other literary example of using the term stuff to refer to possessions.
And if that is not enough, the AKJV now has unicorns! Search the biblegateway.com
Numbers 23:22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

    1. The word “stuff” is an extremely old word. Two seconds with a few decent dictionaries would have done you a lot of good. Instead, you force a contemporary use of the word into the text and assume it must be “wrong.” And yes, the King James Bible has the word unicorn in it. Instead of improving your understanding of the English language, you assume the entire universe has been turned upside down. It boggles the mind. You could research old commentaries to find mountains of discussion over what a unicorn is, but instead, adopt a bizarre, untenable and impossible-to-prove theory about every printed Bible in the world having been changed while we slept.
