I voted NASB because that's what my little red 1975 edition of the Gideon's New Testament is. That little red New Testament was instrumental in planting seeds that led to my conversion and it contains the first Scripture passages I ever highlighted, that spoke to my heart, even as an unbeliever.

And hey, if it has to be an entire Bible and not just the NT, I can always steal.....errrrr,... ummmmm,... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh,.... borrow? yes that's it! a copy from the hotel stopover en route to the island.

Please remember, this is the ONLY read material you have FOR TWENTY YEARS! I understand where you are coming from my Friend, truly. But as I see it, I would rather have a faulty translation in all that time. Hey, I like waves as much as the next guy, but you stare at them twenty years, and you might get a "tad" loco. Look at it another way, pick a CT Version, and use it as a devotional.....

20 years?
Pffft, keep the Bibles, I'll take a good woman any day.
That way I can both study her and be corrected!

Hear hear! I'd take a good woman (my wife, to be exact) over a stack of phony bibles any day!

I'd rather just have my husband on the island with me and skip the CT version. I'd rather just have the few KJV verses I've memorized than have a full corrupted Bible. Between my husband and I, we've memorized quite a few verses and we could have plenty of Bible studies based on those few verses. It would be just like the dark ages when the Catholics wouldn't allow the common people to have their own Bibles.

I would go with the NIV!

...not really, but I thought it may ruffle a few feathers. I think I would really choose the ASV. I tend to trust it more so far out of all the CT Bibles.
