Default Crops fail, food supplies fail

Gov. Charlie Crist on Friday proclaimed a state of emergency for Brevard, Clay,
Duval, Flagler, Lake, Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns and Volusia counties.

State of emergency due to flooding in Florida:

This is very unusual, for FLorida to have so much rain BEFORE hurricane season begins! Where I live, it's been raining for over 2 weeks. This is BAD news, because hurricanes will be forming and coming at Florida, Texas, Louisianna, and parts of the east coast, from June 1st through September.
PLEASE pray for our little home here in North East Florida, the home God gave us, and for our family.

Speaking of hurricane season, here's the weather maps I use, being a native Floridian, to keep up with the hurricanes, and their tracks.
The computer models help me to pray, too.

I hope you all visit these websites during the summer:

Here are the computer models for hurricanes:

Updated regularly. As needed.

OOPS! Forgot to check the box!

Seems like with rain, it's either too much or not enough...

Funny thing is, much of Florida have been in a drought for years. Statewide average rainfall deficits during 2006-07 are the largest observed since the mid 1950s. Some parts of Florida have been desperate for rain and there are still lakes that are 4-5 feet or more below normal levels. More info here:

Brother Parrish, do you live in a hurricane state? Ever been in one?
Ever had to empty your refrigerator of rotten foods, and try to sleep in 90% humidity, with a temp of 85?

Florida's drought clears up each hurricane season.

Brother Parrish, I remember driving mom and dad and my sister to melbourne fla. in october of 1980 to see my aunt, and we passed row after row after row after row, thousands, of dead orange trees I think from a freeze.

Now, that's looking on the bright side!

I will pray for you. I have a feeling that food might be running a little scarce in the Fall, and it wouldn't hurt to have a few non-perishables on hand to ease things a bit. Food prices are going to start acting like oil prices. We do a fair amount of shopping at the Dollar General and this week we've seen a significant increase in those prices. I think everyone else (the non-budget shopper) will start seeing the same type of increases in a month or two.

Not to fear-monger, but there is wisdom in preparation.

And brother, you have my sympathy living in hurricane country. We evacuated our youth prison twice last year due to hurricanes. The first time was only a week and I was such a rookie I didn't take the food out of our refrigerator the second time. That evacuation was almost a month. We still can't use our icemaker or water dispenser, and there's still a certain "aroma" lingering inside.

It's true brother, freezes have just about wiped out the industry several times.
