Hi,

I have a question about open theology or at least a part of it. One of the issues with open theology is that God can't or doesn't know all even though He's omniscient. If Christ truly didn't know, can He be God and omnisicient?

In Christ,

I won't debate theological schools. The Bible teaches God has all knowledge - knows all things before they happen. He also knows all possibilities, because Romans 8:28 says He is working out all things for good (therefore He must know the outcomes to avoid or work against).

When Jesus was on earth, He veiled His glory and His power to a certain extent. This is found in Philippians 2 and some other places. He also placed Himself in a position of authority under the Father (whereas in eternity, they were co-equal). Placing Himself under human limitations (to the extent that He did) allowed Him to be hungry and thirsty, tired, feel pain, etc.

Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your reply. Is this particular issue w/in open theory wrong? Seems it to me. The reason I bring it up is because it's becoming an issue w/in Christian circles. My answer has been basically what you said, but the flip side is that it still doesn't clear the air fully with others. Maybe you just leave it at that in the end, but, what do you do when someone attends a church that is open to that? The church we presently attend hasn't gone to this end, but they have started embracing other issues which seem seeker-friendly, which is causing me to search my (and others) hearts for another church.

The best thing to do is always bring the issue back to the Bible. If they won't accept what the Bible says, you really won't get too far in a discussion anyway.
