I have been looking for a different bible, and came across the old scofield in Black Leather and thumb tabs with the 1917 notes, listed below:

Is this the right scofield to buy? there are so many, and what i have heard the new scofields have been revised.

I believe you can't go wrong with an Old Scofield; it's just the New Scofield that's been revised and therefore isn't completely Scofield since he died in 1921.

I actually just got that same Bible, only without the thumb tabs.

Yep, that's the real Old Scofield. Or, if you want a Scofield with wide margins you can get one HERE. Not sure what you're using now, but have you looked at a Thompson Chain?

1917 version is a good one. My hard cover version is about 25 yrs old now, and the print 'shrunk' on it, but I still refer to it for my notes in the margins.

I keep hearing about this. Could someone explain what they mean by the print shrinking?

Peace and Love,

People have difficulty seeing the print as they get older. This way they blame the print instead of admitting they're getting older.

Isn't that where the term "fine print" comes from?

Read the fine print? Well I would, but I can't see it............

Ahh, hehe, well I assumed as much. But I hasn't ruled out the possibility that these Scofield's used shrinking ink either, thus I had to ask.

Peace and Love,
Stephen
