Default Who can really know?

“But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things” (1 John 2:20).

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him” (1 John 2:27).

The “biblical scholar” who may require deeper explanation or some civilized and thorough debate concerning the inspiration, preservation, and understanding of God’s word, will not find this post to be very “intellectually stimulating” or inspiring. It is for the rest of us, the “common” man and woman who has become “uncommon” through spiritual rebirth.

Is it a requirement to know Hebrew, Greek, history, or have visual evidence, or substantive material in order to perceive, discern, or understand the word of God?

I guess most of the participants on this Forum would say, “No, it’s certainly not a requirement to “know” or “have” the things you mentioned in order to perceive, discern, or understand the word of God, but those things could be helpful or useful.” Okay, personally, I agree with you and will not argue or debate with those who don’t.

But can any ordinary, unlearned, unsophisticated, unrefined, or common born-again individual “know all things” and be taught by the Holy Spirit instructing him or her in and through the Holy Word?

Our spiritual rebirth and “unction” equips all of us with the ability to know all things. In no way am I suggesting that these verses mean we are “know-it-alls” or “know all there is to know” or “that men do not teach,” but rather, that the Holy Spirit opens our eyes of keen spiritual understanding and that we do not require the “teachings” of men.

Do you ever feel unqualified to speak or share the truth because you are uneducated?

Listen, we all know there are others who know more than we do. So what! Don’t let that prevent you from pressing on. Keep studying to show yourself approved unto God, not men.

If you are truly saved, you earnestly pray, and seek the truth in God’s word, then you can fully trust Him to open your eyes of spiritual understanding. “…but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” Abide in Christ and yield the fruit He desires to bring forth in your life!
