Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the
deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters
This verse is clearly describing the earth. And it is also describing what "without form" means, the whole earth was covered with water. And we know there was no dry land until Gen 1:9-10
Gen 1:9 And God said, Let the waters
under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
