Men will exist on the earth in the Millenial Kingdom. the verse in Matt referes to an event at the end of Jacobs trouble where the sun will be darkened and the moon turns red. the reference is to the last days of Jacobs trouble. Jesus was not talking to Gentiles but to his Jewish disciples who had asked when shall these things be. Jesus answer is specifically to a generation. and that days generation was postponed.

so there is one in the future that it makes it's application. it would have to be Jewish Generation and 70AD was the end of Jesus' Generation. so it fits well that it would be applied to Israel today.
