Incidentally, the lack of proper understanding of this has led to many false doctrines. In the RCC, they came up with the "immaculate conception", while in some Protestant circles theories of divine implanation, with Mary only a surrogate mother, have some popularity.

The only writer that I have seen that has written cogently on this is the late Arthur Custance. His writings are web-available.

There is also a related issue of the DNA of the Lord Jesus Christ, the number of chromosones.
