The promise to Eve was a reference to the virgin birth. As far as promises to those in the line of Christ go, it is clear in the Bible that God made promises to various men and women, and we can't just limit it to just one of the two.

In the Bible the inheritance was through the males. There was a curse on Joseph's line though (on Jeconiah).
