The Best Bible College

Everyone loves to speak out for their Alma Mater, I am and doing so now. Piedmont Baptist College & Graduate School is the best institution in the south east (perhaps even America). Great faculty, affordable tuition, deep love for the Word of God, and Biblical to the core on every doctrine. Check out their website at www.pbc.edu! Go Conquerers!

This is from their statement of faith.

Quote:

STATEMENT OF FAITH
THE SCRIPTURES
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error, for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.
So, Greektim, which "Bible" are they talking about? Is it the "originals" or is it the King James Version or is it the Good News for Modern Man? And why didn't they just say so?

This S of F makes the same blatant error that many do.

written by men divinely inspired
Considering how plain the Scriptures are about what is inspired, the Scriptures and not the men, it is amazing to me how many fundamental churches and organizations miss this.

Don't mean to be a killjoy, but isn't Alma Mater latin for Nourishing Mother?

Sounds rather Romish to me. Why not just call it "My College" or something.

"Nourishing Mother"? Ouch!

Just to clarify (b/c the issue of men inspired have been addressed by PBC) the statement of faith has a note to clarify that it is not the men referred to but the Scripture. The statement is not allowed to be changed so a subnote was added to clarify the ambiguity of the statement. I think there should be a comma between "written by men[,] divinely inspired9[,] and..." You can believe that in my own personal doctrinal statement, I devote a statement saying the Scriptures are inspired and not the men.

THe Bible refers to the text which represents the inspired originals. That is why an emphasis is placed on Hebrew and Greek language study. I know you KJVO don't like that. YOu have a to have a standardized text b/c you can't do it on your own ;) (a joke for those who don't know me). Oh well.

As to alma mater, I don't make the rules I just play by them. I don't like the phrase either (mainly cause it is Latin not Greek :D).

This admits that there is no standard, nor any God-backed up authoritative source of the Hebrew or Greek that is final extant today. How could any such person be certain as to what is the true Scripture and the sure Gospel?
